| From Diversity Awareness Partnership Interfaith Calendar |
The Islamic holy month of Ramadan began yesterday, June 6, and lasts until July 5. This information ("More About Ramadan") is from the Diversity Awareness Partnership's Interfaith Calendar. Additional information about Ramadan, its origins and traditions can be found at the website for the Islamic Foundation of Greater St. Louis (includes FAQ, reflections and timetable) or STLToday's article with questions and answers about Ramadan, "Q&A: What is Ramadan and Why Do Muslims Fast All Day?" by Aya Batrawy for the Associated Press.
If you wanted to come to the library for information about Ramadan, I would direct you to Dewey Decimal Number 297.36 in the Social Sciences room for books like In the Footsteps of the Prophet, or for children, take a look at the call number J297.362.
On social media, you might want to search #RamadanMubarak for Ramadan greetings, recipes for breaking the fast, even a cute Sesame Street picture featuring a Muslim muppet and her friends. (Although I did see one tweet noting that the hashtag looked a little too much like a waffle for a hungry tweeter.)

Great information! Especially the article on the significance of Ramadan.
